History of Parintins
The current territory of Parintins City was first inhabited by natives of Tupinamba tribe. In 1749, the explorer Jose Goncalves da Fonseca discovered an island on Amazonas River. In 1796, Jose Pedro Cordovil arrived at the island with his family and his slaves and named the place ”Tupinambarama”, dedicating to farming and fishing there. Queen [...]
